Explosion In New York, What We Know So Far

By Asish Samson

An explosion in the New York Port Authority Bus Terminus on the 42nd street in Manhattan reportedly injured several people on Monday morning according to law enforcement officials.

There are unconfirmed reports that a pipe bomb had partially exploded. The suspect has been injured and detained and is currently at a hospital. Another suspect with a possible second device was also arrested. He was said to be “having wires coming out of him”.

The A,C,E lines have reportedly been evacuated. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has been briefed as has been President Trump according to Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The suspect is the only person said to be injured. This attempted suicide bombing takes precedence due to the fact that President Trump last week declared Jerusalem as capital of Israel which triggered global mass protests from Muslims and incidents of violence though as of now nothing is known about the suspect.
The Port Authority Bus Terminal as the largest serves 65 million people a year.

The attacker has been identified as Akayed Ullah, from Bangladesh. This attack is believed to be an Islamic terror attack in a response to President Trump declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel.

Terror Related Arrests Reach Record High In UK

By Asish Samson

In alarming statement released by the Home office the number of terror related arrests made in Britain from past year till September 2017 has risen 54% in a dramatic upward shift. The Home office commented this was partly due to the arrests made after terror attacks.

In a disturbing trend 400 arrests were made since last year related to terror which includes a 77% rise in white suspects held. In an another shocking rise 58 of the suspects held were women, the highest in record since 2001 when the statistical record was started. As many as 3000 individuals are currently under investigation under any one time in about 500 live investigations while the bigger probe involves about 20,000 people!

These figures highlight the growing threat of Islamic terrorism in the UK in a culmination including but not limited to the Westminster Bridge attack, Manchester Arena attack, Parsons Green, Finsbury Park mosque and the London Bridge attack. The MI5 has stated it had prevented 9 attacks in the past year. Andrew Parker the head of the agency had in an ominous statement declared that the terror attacks were “in the highest tempo I’ve seen in my 34 year career” last October.

In the internet age online radicalization has been one of the biggest threats as it has produced home grown terror in a alarming rate. This can be seen clearly in the fact that almost 70% of those arrested have been identified as British citizens or British dual nationals. This highly concerning figure underlines the growing threat of radical Islamic terrorism in Europe as a whole. ISIS, particularly has been using websites and video to radicalize youth into terrorism and suicidal attacks. More than 800 people from the UK have gone to join ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson has taken a strong stance against them. He has stated that not a single citizen should be allowed back into the UK. “ A dead terrorist can’t cause any harm to Britain” he declared in interview.

Reports emerged yesterday that an extremist blatantly encouraged his followers to attack Prince George at his primary school while MI5 has prevented and arrested an extremist planning to assassinate Prime minister Theresa May at her official home in a suicide attack.

The US President Donald Trump had recently tweeted to Theresa May to watch out for Islamic terrorism in her own country in a pointed response. The recent discovery of the plan to assassinate her would surely leave her embarrassed but thankfully safe thanks to her intelligence agency. One thing apparent to the entire world now is that UK is under immense threat from Islamic terrorism. What measures they take and how they respond to it remains to be seen.

Terror Attack Prevented Against Theresa May

Islamic Terrorists, armed with knives, were foiled in their plan to assassinate Theresa May, the Prime Minister of the U.K. The two men were arrested on Tuesday, November 28, at gunpoint, by officers of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

Naa’imur Zakariyah Rahman and Mohammed Aqib Imran, the offenders, will remain in custody until wednesday, December 6; when they will stand in front of the Westminster Magistrates’ Court, accused of preparing to commit acts of Terrorism, which intentions were contrary to section 5 of the Terrorism act of 2006.

Police state in a Sky News report, “The plan was to launch some sort of improvised explosive device at Downing Street, and in the ensuing chaos, attack, and kill, Theresa May.” The plot had been investigated for “several weeks” by M15 Military Intelligence Security Service, West Midlands Police, and Scotland Yard, according to reports.

Investigators believe the two desired to, first, detonate a bomb to cause chaos and discord. Secondly, during the aftermath, they would murder Theresa, armed with a suicide vest, a knife, and pepper spray. The attack would’ve targeted 10 Downing Street, where the Prime minister’s office resides.

Though a description of the individuals has yet to surface, the Metropolitan Police news tell us that Naa’imur Zakariyah Rahman is a 20 year old man, who lives in North London. Mohammed Aqib Imran is 21, and lives in Birmingham.

Chiefs of Counter-terrorism said it was the ninth nullified threat in the U.K. since march, and still, there are more than 500 live investigations of potential terrorists. Andrew Parker, chief of M15, briefed Cabinet ministers last week on the unprecedented, and growing, terrorist threat, facing the country. He said the threat was the “highest tempo” he has seen in his 34-year career.

Of the past five terror attacks that got through M15, four have been related to islamic terrorism. Some foiled terror attempts have not been made public, for reasons of security.

Why the two desired to kill Theresa, remains unknown, but maybe the trial will reveal their intentions; weather it be jihad, a difference of belief, or something different entirely. No-one knows yet, but Prime ministers have long been targets of terrorism. In the 1970s, counter-measures were introduced, but had to increase in the 1980s, because of the threat posed by Irish Republicans at the time.

Theresa May has been the leader of the Conservative party since 2016. She was first elected in 1997 as a member of parliament for Maidenhead. She has identified herself as a one-nation conservative, and was the first woman chairman of the Toi party, in 2002. When the coalition government formed, following the 2010 election, Theresa May was appointed Home Secretary and Minister for Women and Equality. During that same time, May promised the people that she would bring down the net migration to under 100,000.
Despite her promise, 620,000 people migrated to the UK in 2014, while only 327,000 left. Mrs. May said it was their duty to let those from war torn countries find refuge. Along with asylum seekers and refugees, ISIS militants crossed the mediterranean sea, finding their new home to be the U.K. Since the European migrant crisis began in 2015, there has been a massive increase in terror attacks, which number continues to grow today.

Suspicious Package Found At German Market

By Kanach Peterson

According to German police a suspicious item was found at a Christmas market in Potsdam, right outside Berlin. The device was said to have contained batteries and wires.
The 40cm by 50cm box was delivered to a pharmacy on the same street as the local Christmas market. According to authorities, the box did contain makeshift explosive devices but have since been defused.

“The suspicion of an improvised explosive device has been confirmed,” police said on Twitter.” Police said on twitter.
Spokesperson Torsten Herbst stated on n-tv that it remains unclear what the device was made of.

Brandenburg Interior Minister Karl-Heinz Schroeter said: “The evaluation and analysis is just beginning now,” he said. “If it was really explosive or if it was a fake or a dummy, we will only know through further investigation.”

Though reports have come in claiming that a police x-ray scan revealed that the device contained nails, this information has yet to be confirmed as fact.
Germany’s interior ministry stated this week that the risk of an attack on its territory or in Europe is “continuously high”.

Terrorist Attack In Egypt, Death Toll Rises To 300+

By Kanach Peterson

The Sufi al-Rawda mosque in the town of Bir al-Abed was attacked yesterday during Friday prayers.
Armed militants detonated a bomb inside the packed mosque and then proceded to open fire on the panicing frenzy of worshippers. 305 people were killed in this attack along with 128 severely wounded. Officials are naming it the deadliest attack terrorist attack in Egypt’s modern history, surpassing the events of the Sinai insurgency of 2013. Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi has vowed to respond to the bombing with “brute force.”

What Happened?

According to witnesses, dozens of gunmen arrived in off-road vehicles to the packed mosque before detonating a bomb and opening fire on escaping worshippers. The gunmen were reported to have set several parked cars surrounding the mosque of fire to block escape routes for civilians.
“They were shooting at people as they left the mosque,” a local resident who had relatives there told Reuters news agency. “They were shooting at the ambulances too.”
Who were the targets?
The al Rawda mosque is known by locals to be a gathering for Sufi Muslims. Sufism is a mystical branch of Sunni Islam that focuses on the inward search for god and shuns anything materialistic.
Even though Sufis are widely accepted across the majority of the Muslim world they are seen by some as heretics for their practices. Alexander D. Knysh, a professor of Islamic studies at the University of Michigan describes Sufism as a “very wide, amorphous movement” practiced within both the Sunni and Shiite traditions.
“The opponents of Sufism see the shrines and these living saints as idols,” Mr. Knysh explained. “Their existence and their worship violates the main principle of Islam, which is the uniqueness of God and the uniqueness of the object of worship.”

Tension Behind the Attack

The Sinai Peninsula is no stranger to massive terrorist attacks. This is only the latest attack in the Sinai Insurgency that began in 2011 following the Egyptian revolution. Mr

President Trump stated in multiple tweets that he planned on calling the Egyptian president to talk about the “tragic terrorist attack” and reinforcing the need for a border wall and travel ban.

Friday morning President Trump tweeted condemning the attack, referring to it as “horrible and cowardly.”

The White House also released an official statement condemning the attacks and offering their condolences to the families affected.
